Fingerprint Authentication Using a Minutiae Score Matching Algorithm

A biometric factor is something physiologically unique about an individual, such as a fingerprint, facial image, iris, voice pattern, and handwriting. When an individual wants logical or physical access (depending on the implementation), a sample is taken of the authenticitiesí biometric data, for example, a fingerprint. Then, the authenticator, using a previously enrolled version of the same biometric template can match the sample against the stored template to verify the individualís identity. Biometrics is not secret, as everyone leaves fingerprints everywhere they go, faces and eyes can be photographed, voices can be recorded, and handwriting samples can be obtained. The security of the fingerprint authentication system, therefore, relies on the integrity and authenticity of the biometric information. Therefore careful evaluation must be done for the selection of the fingerprint authentication and Good practices should be followed during the implementation, enrollment, and administration of the fingerprint authentication system. In this paper, we intend to propose a high-speed method for fingerprint recognition based on minutiae matching, which, unlike conventional minutiae matching algorithms, also takes into account region and line structures that exist between minutiae pairs, allowing getting more structural information of the fingerprint and resulting in stronger and more accurate matching of minutiae. For Fingerprint thinning, the Block Filter is used, which scans the image at the boundary to preserve the quality of the image and extract the minutiae from the thinned image. The false matching ratio is better compared to the existing algorithm.

Cebuano Music Videos for Mother Tongue Based Multi-Lingual Education: An Instructional Material For Kindergarten, Grades I, II, and III

The Philippine educational system is becoming gradually competitive for the institutions and its students. The Department of Educationís new trend K-12 implementation of Mother-Tongue-based Multilingual Education (MTB-MLE) wherein the kindergarten and grades one to three are required to have a subject that uses the childís mother tongue as the language, is one good example that best describes todayís improving educational system. Students must acquire learnings as much as they can, and acquire it effectively. With this new implementation, the proponents searched for problems that might serve as a hindrance in successfully putting into effect the said implementation. And out of the many problems that make it impossible for the implementation to be actualized listed in Section 5 of the Republic Act No. 10157, the proponents focused on the problem that when resources, in utilizing the mother tongue, are not yet accessible. The purpose of this paper is to eliminate the listed problem and to utilize information technology in formulating a solution to the said problem. The proponents came up with the idea of an interactive learning tool, so the proponents searched for available Cebuano music videos that consist of nursery rhymes that serve as a learning tool for the mother tongue. A limited number of Cebuano music videos were found, that led the proponents to proceed in making music videos using Cebuano language. The music videos will compose of animations and old and new Cebuano nursery rhymes. After successfully making the music videos they become more competitive that leads them to intensify their standards. The proponents believe that these Cebuano music videos will become a very popular choice for an effective tool in learning Cebuano mother tongue.

Electronic Form-138 and Form-137 Implementation for Basic Education

The proponentsí purpose of this system is to develop an Electronic form-138 and form-137 to be implementing for Basic Education that will generate form 138 into form 137 of the student. The adviser will be the one to register the students and capable of inputting the grades of the particular students using LRN. When the ranking was turned over to the Office of Registrar, the adviser is not allowed to edit the grades of the students who are under his/her advisory. Only the administrator has authority in editing/ updating the grades of the students that had been inputted incorrectly by the adviser. This system helps to reduce the workload and lessen the paper works of the Administrator as well as the Adviser. In the currently used software, the Administrator still inputs the grades manually. Thereís a higher tendency of having errors and inconsistency of records. Based on the tests that the proponentsí have made that this Electronic form- 137 and form-138 is a very useful system that will generate the studentís form 137 and form 138 it is more accurate, consistent and quicker than the present system. To establish a system that helps to lessen the workload of the Administrator in inputting, editing or updating the grades of the learners. The system will be available online with the intention that student or the parents of the student can be able to view the grades of their children mostly for the OFW.

Crime Mapping and Geography Distribution Analysis for CARAGA Region, Philippines

With the advent of new technologies, people have greater access to information and other necessary resources needed for their daily routine, as a way to improve the quality of life particularly in peaceful and safer community. This study provides a greater impact in achieving the said the quality of life by devising a new technology integrating different frameworks, such as mobile computing, geographic information system, decision support system and web applications. Further, this technology will predict would-be incident/crime commission for analysis and possible preventive actions. Mobile users can report any incidents and crime within the area, thus providing information to the local government authorities. The system also provides geographical distribution of crime rate through graphical representation. The efficient and timely forecasting and data analysis of crime rates within the region can now be achieved. And the implementation of mobile reporting for emergency situation with Geographical Information System (GIS) is a timely solution in emergency situation broadcasting.

Web-based Mother Tongue Dialect Translator for Philippine Basic Education System

The implementation of the mother-tongue education in the Basic Education System, it raises problems to the educators. Some educators are not well versed in the native language of the learners. The educators cannot easily translate and interpret the English words into the different dialects in the country. The reason why the researchers developed this project is to help the teachers to translate words from the first language into the second language of the learners. The proponentsí inspiration for this study is to improve the vocabulary skills of an educator through recognizing new sets of words from a local dialect. This project aims to develop a functional and workable web-based dialect translator that would address the specific difficulty of our modern educators. The proponents developed a web-based mother tongue dialect translator to aid the problem of the educators. Based on several tests conducted, the translator has 100 % accuracy in English to Tagalog, Sugbuanong Binisaya, and Surigaonon sentence translation. In reverse, the translator has only 20 % accuracy in Tagalog, Sugbuanong Binisaya, and Surigaonon to English. The average execution time of the translation is 1.081537008 seconds in the average bitrate of 1.228 Mbps. The translation execution time of the translator varies on the internet speed provided by the Internet Service Providers (ISP). This study will solve the problem of the educators in teaching the mother tongue dialects to the learners. The educators can easily translate the words into different dialects by using this application. This will reduce the time that they consumed in looking for the right translation of the words. This will help us to communicate and understand everyone in our society.

Implementation of Advanced Encryption Standard Cryptographic Algorithm in a Test Bank System

Cryptography is a method that provides assurance and validity from users to secure information from infiltrators. This study aimed to develop a Test Banking System with the integration of Advanced Encryption Standard cryptographic algorithm available to enhance the system vulnerability against any unexpected attacks, reliability, and speed of execution. The algorithm will be integrated for the secure generation and retrieval of information on the Test Bank system. The primary purpose was to create a storage of test questions that are based on Bloomís Taxonomy six level cognitive domain. The proposed system followed the agile developmental model which promote quick response to changing environments, changes in user requirements, accelerated project deadlines, and the like. The respondents answered the survey instrument to evaluate the acceptability level of the project 4.34 as mean or the average score, which is considered an average rating in the scale range. As a result, the system will provide a more secure and private way in terms of questionnaire transmittal (which means that the sender will be able to send and receive encrypted test question over the network).
